Dealcoholized wine is a beverage made from traditional wine that has undergone a process to remove most of its alcohol content while retaining its flavor, aroma, and essence.

It can be made through several methods, normally it is made starting with regular wine and using techniques like vacuum distillation or reverse osmosis to extract the alcohol. These processes add a level of complexity as not only the original wine has to be very good, but its properties have to preserved during the dealcoholization process as much as possible. Some wines are actually "proxies" using grapes or most, but adding in other ingredients, flavors or aromas. We have picked the most interesting and awarded wines and proxies for you.

A dealcoholized wine retains most of the characteristics of a regular wine, including its flavors and aromas, but it may taste differently due to the absence of alcohol, which can influence the texture and mouthfeel. Think of it as a new category of beverage, full with craftsmanship and tradition, just like wines, but healthier and accessible to indulge any time and anywhere.

Most of them yes, but marginally. Dealcoholized wines may contain trace amounts of alcohol (less than 0.5% ABV), which is similar to the levels found in some juices or kombucha. But some wines, those made without fermentation, are enriched with flavors or aromas, and can have 0.0% of alcohol. 

Grape juice is made from regular, unfermented grapes and has a sweeter, flatter taste. Dealcoholized wines undergo processes of fermentation before having the alcohol removed. Or they might undergo other processes to increase their complexity making them to adult beverages for special moments. A more sophisticated and wine-like flavor profile sets apart a grape juice from a dealcoholized wine.

Dealcoholized wines are products meant for adult consumption. While the trace amounts of alcohol in dealcoholized wines are negligible, it is recommended to consult a pediatrician before allowing children to consume them and in any case, always keep adult supervision and orientation at all times.

Dealcoholized wines retain many of the polyphenols and antioxidants found in regular wine, but without alcohol, some benefits may differ. Most of them also have low levels of sugar and are low in calories. So generally yes, you are not only indulging your senses, you are also nurturing your body, specially if they help you to decrease the regular consumption of other alcoholic drinks.

Store dealcoholized wine in a cool, dark place, ideally at 10-15°C (50-59°F). Once opened, refrigerate it and consume within a few days.

Yes, dealcoholized wines are naturally gluten-free, as wine is made from grapes and does not include gluten-based ingredients.

Similarly as with regular wines, most dealcoholized wines contain preservatives such as sulfur dioxide in amounts regulated by European legislation (for example under 150 to 200 mg per liter for red wines). Please check the product details for specifics.

We brought prize winning brands that you cannot find otherwise in Hungary. While you might find dealcoholized wines elsewhere, we are the first shop specialized in zero alcohol beverages in Hungary. Unlike alcoholic shops, we will be better at choosing and recommending, as it is a quite different field.

Shipping typically takes 1 day for orders in Budapest, if you order before 12:00 noon you might get it in the same day afternoon. We use GLS for deliveries, please check the email that you will receive from them for your specific delivery status.
