Located in the heart of the Muscadet appellation since 1723, Domaine de la Grenaudière crafts wines exclusively from Melon de Bourgogne grapes. Nestled between the Sèvre and Maine rivers on granite-rich soils, the estate’s extended lees aging imparts Muscadets with a pure expression of terroir.
Domaine de la Grenaudière, steeped in tradition and rooted in the Muscadet appellation since 1723, is led today by Mathilde and Stéphane, two friends and enologists dedicated to preserving the estate’s legacy while embracing innovation. Mathilde represents the eighth generation of her family at the vineyard, bringing a deep connection to her ancestral land. Stéphane, from a family of Burgundy winemakers, introduces a fresh perspective influenced by his background and extensive global experience. Together, they aim to craft premium Muscadet wines that honor the region and resonate internationally.
Nestled between the Sèvre and Maine rivers, the vineyard spans 27 hectares, planted exclusively with Melon de Bourgogne—a unique grape known for its fresh, dry whites. The soils, predominantly granite from the Armorican Massif, offer an exceptional terroir, including prized communal crus like Clisson and Château Thébaud. Each plot’s distinct soil structure allows the Melon de Bourgogne to fully express the diversity of Muscadet’s terroirs.
In keeping with Muscadet tradition, wines at Domaine de la Grenaudière undergo lees aging for six to sixty months in underground glass-lined tanks. This method, coupled with the stable, cool temperatures of the tanks, enhances the wines' depth, complexity, and distinctive roundness. Certified HVE3 (High Environmental Value), the estate practices sustainable viticulture, maintaining biodiversity and promoting a healthy ecosystem within the vineyard. Domaine de la Grenaudière is committed to a meticulous winemaking process, from vineyard to cellar, that ensures quality and respect for the environment.
